According to the Tunduru District Council, District Commissioner Denis G. Masanja led an evaluation session on September 28, 2026, focused on the disbursement and repayment of 10 percent development loans for women, youth, and persons with disabilities.
The meeting was held at the District Commissioner's office hall and was attended by the Council Chairperson, the District CCM Chairperson, the District Commissioner, and council department and unit heads, the source reported.
Presenting a report on behalf of the District Executive Director, Jecyline Maganga stated that during the 2025/2026 financial year, 60 groups consisting of 321 members benefited from the facility. The loans reached 33 out of 39 wards in the council, while six wards—Jakika, Mchuluka, Misechela, Kalulu, Namwinyu, and Mindu—did not receive funds because no groups met the qualification criteria that year.
The Council Chairperson, Sefu Hassan Dauda, stressed the need to accelerate loan repayments so that the recovered funds can revolve and support new beneficiaries, the council stated.
The meeting additionally discussed introducing incentives for groups demonstrating strong repayment records, sustaining community education, and utilizing mass media to raise awareness and improve community participation in the loan programme.
Understanding local authority loan distribution and qualifying criteria helps identify economic empowerment gaps across Tunduru wards, particularly for youth, women, and persons with disabilities seeking livelihood support.
