Vision

An educated, healthy and economically self-reliant community, beginning within Tunduru District.

Mission

To involve young people and community members of Tunduru District in voluntary social service and in development programmes in education, health and economic empowerment, together with development stakeholders, guided by accountability, openness and cooperation.

Our Objectives

TCDI was established on 27 March 2022 by alumni and young people from villages across Tunduru District who chose to contribute to the development of their own community.

Our Approach

TCDI delivers structured, community-based programmes through volunteer deployment, training sessions and community outreach. We work for consistent engagement rather than one-time interventions, so support to communities is sustained and can be measured.

How the work we carry today reached us, told carefully and without invention.

Those who came before us planted the seed. We inherited the tree. Our responsibility is not only to enjoy its shade, but to water it for those who come after us.
The Seed We Inherited

  1. Community foundations

    Community investment in education and youth development in Tunduru, remembered as beginning in the 1980s and 1990s through elders, teachers and guardians.

  2. A wider youth educational effort

    A larger phase of youth educational development is remembered around 2011 and 2012. The exact record is still being confirmed with those who took part.

  3. Tunduru Tuition Centres

    Community-based educational support across Tunduru, today the education initiative of TCDI.

  4. TCDI

    The broader institutionalisation of community development work in Tunduru, guided by its constitution.

How we are organised

TCDI is the parent community based organisation. It works through programme areas. Tunduru Tuition Centres is an initiative within the education programme area.
